Pre-Transfer Notes

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree is primarily intended for professionally oriented art students and for those planning to pursue graduate work in the studio arts. Admission to the Bachelor of Fine Arts is selective and requires prior admission to the BA in Studio Art and a separate application for the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. Admitted BA Studio Art majors may apply for admission to the BFA program upon completion of the Foundation Program and the introductory course to the area of track, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in department (studio art and art history) courses and a cumulative grade point average of 2.25. Once admitted, students must maintain an overall grade point average of 2.25 or above and a 3.0 or above in department courses to remain enrolled in the BFA program. Acceptance is limited and competitive and submission of an application does not guarantee admission. Students intending to pursue a BFA at the University of Louisville are strongly encouraged to begin their study at the University of Louisville. Students are cautioned that completing requirements for the BFA may take longer than four years.
