CRIMINOLOGY (AA TO AB)

Completion of the following curriculum will satisfy the requirements for an Associate in Arts degree at KCTCS and related baccalaureate CRIMINOLOGY (AA TO AB) degree at Western Kentucky University. This pathway
meets the general education, pre-major, and program requirements.
The suggested courses in this pathway leads to an Associate and Baccalaureate major. The course
recommendations for the first two years are required for the Baccalaureate degree, but also apply to the
associate degree. The completion of these courses will enable a student to move efficiently into the last
two years of the baccalaureate program.
It is important to discuss revisions to the plan, graduation requirements, entrance requirements, and other
important program requirements with your advisor. Students who complete the associate degree in this pathway are guaranteed acceptance
into the pathway as stated, unless otherwise noted on the pathway.

Pre-Transfer Notes
This agreement allow KCTCS graduates to transfer AA coursework from KCTCS into the Criminology program at WKU.
The major in Criminology requires a minimum of 34 credit hours and leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree. The following 22 hours of core courses are required for the major: CRIM 101 (CRJ 100), SOCL 300, 302, 309, CRIM 330, 332, 380, and 499. In addition, the students are required to take an additional 12 hours of elective courses selected from the following list: CRIM 222, 232 (CRJ 215), 233 (CRJ 203), 234, 346, 361, 430, 432, 434, 437, 438, 439, 446, 447, 448, 451, 456, 489, 495, 496, SOCL 359, 389, 435, PS 220, 326, 328, 350, HIST 445, 446, SWRK 356, PSY/PSYS 440, 441, 470, CHEM 111, 430, PH 165, 467, 472, ANTH 300. A minor or second major is required, along with WKU graduation requirements.

Additional KCTCS Graduation Requirements
1. | Completion of minimum of 60 credit hours, |
2. | Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA, |
3. | Minimum of 15 credit hours earned at the institution awarding the degree, |
4. | Cultural studies course, (Refer to the KCTCS catalog.) |
5. | Demonstration of computer/digital literacy, (Refer to the KCTCS catalog.) |
6. | One science course must include a laboratory experience, and |
7. | Two disciplines must be represented in Social & Behavioral Science courses and must be different than those in the Heritage and Humanities categories. |
