Effective Date: 8/1/2017 - 7/31/2018

Completion of the following curriculum will satisfy the requirements for an Associate in Science degree at KCTCS and related baccalaureate COMPUTER INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (AAS OR AS TO BS) degree at Western Kentucky University. This pathway meets the general education, pre-major, and program requirements.

The suggested courses in this pathway leads to an Associate and Baccalaureate major. The course recommendations for the first two years are required for the Baccalaureate degree, but also apply to the associate degree. The completion of these courses will enable a student to move efficiently into the last two years of the baccalaureate program.

It is important to discuss revisions to the plan, graduation requirements, entrance requirements, and other important program requirements with your advisor. Students who complete the associate degree in this pathway are guaranteed acceptance into the pathway as stated, unless otherwise noted on the pathway.

Pre-Transfer Notes

The WKU Computer Information Technology online major (reference number 555) requires 120 credit hours and leads to a Bachelor of Science degree. No minor or second major is required. Enrollment in the CIT program is limited and based on student qualifications. All CIT courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better. For 2+2 transfer students, 36 hours of CIT courses are required. These include:
• Four 300-level courses (usually taken in the first semester): CIT 300, 302, 352, 372 (12 hours)
• Seven courses, to be selected from 400-level CIT courses and/or from AMS 342, 367, 390, 394, 396, 430, 475 (21 hours)
• Capstone course: AMS 490 (3 hours, to be taken in last semester)
In order to be considered a 2+2 student and take advantage of the reduced number of hours (36 instead of 60), students must transfer to WKU with an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree (or A.S. in some cases) in a technology subject area from a regionally accredited school.
Students who transfer from a community/technical college and are not General Education Certified will need to complete WKU's Colonnade requirements. These may be completed at WKU, online, or, in some cases, at other colleges local to the student.

It is possible that under some circumstances students may be able to complete the CIT bachelor's degree in 36 semester hours.
